John Buhrmaster, president/CEO of 1st National Bank of Scotia, whose regional branches include Saratoga Springs, was part of a group of 100 community bankers invited to the White House this week.
Buhrmaster, a fourth generation banker, met with President Donald Trump and other top administration officials to kick off the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) Capital Summit in Washington, D.C. During the White House meeting, ICBA and its leadership community bank members continued their calls for common-sense regulatory relief that will unleash the economic power of the nation’s community banks and the communities they serve. “I was among the leadership of the 100 bankers who had a precedent-setting meeting with the president and vice president,” said Buhrmaster, who is past chairman of the Independent Community Bankers of America®. “During our event both President Trump and Vice-President Pence strongly endorsed community bankers as the economic engines that drive our economy.”
