GUILDERLAND, NY – July 14, 2020 – The Guilderland Industrial Development Agency has agreed to become the Principal Community Investor in the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce by making an investment of $10,000 to support the Chamber in its role as an information resource and advocate for the business community in the Town. While New York State law restricts the ability of the I.D.A. to provide direct assistance to businesses, this community investment will enable the agency to support the work that the Chamber does, particularly its efforts in support of small businesses in Guilderland.
The Guilderland IDA’s Mission is to assist in the enhancement and diversity of the economy of the Town of Guilderland (the “Town”) by acting in support of projects in the Town that create and/or retain jobs and/or promote private sector investment utilizing the statutory powers of the Agency as set forth under the provisions of the laws of the State of New York. This investment in the Guilderland Chamber allows the Guilderland IDA to support the small business community of Guilderland through the chamber. The majority of the Guilderland Chamber’s membership is small businesses, with over 45% of member businesses with one to ten employees.
“The I.D.A. is pleased to assist in the work of the Guilderland Chamber of Commerce in supporting the entire Guilderland business community.” –William Young, Board Chairman, Guilderland IDA
“The Guilderland Chamber acts as an information and advocacy hub for Guilderland’s businesses, particularly small businesses. We are proud to be able to support this important work.” – Don Csaposs, CEO, Guilderland IDA
“I would like to thank the IDA for supporting the Guilderland Chamber during this troublesome time. The Guilderland Chamber of Commerce, and many other local chambers, have been directly impacted by COVID-19. The Chamber is funded almost solely through membership dues, events, and sponsors. As a 501(c)(6) Not-For-Profit, we are unable to apply for many of the grant and loan programs, like the Paycheck Protection Program, which restricts 501(c)(6) Not-For-Profits from eligibility.” – Rhonda Stansfield Krutz, Board Chair, Guilderland Chamber of Commerce
“We are excited to partner with the Guilderland IDA on this effort and thank them for their investment. This investment will go a long way in assisting not only the Chamber but the small businesses we support. We hope this investment will help us launch our Community Investor program and encourage more businesses to invest in the chamber to support the local business community. With this investment we will be able to assist businesses with marketing efforts, advocacy, resources sharing and so much more. Thank you to the Guilderland IDA for this investment.” -Danielle Walsh, Executive Director, Guilderland Chamber of Commerce
